Chantix and Me

Today I took my usual dose of Chantix, as I do everyday, and I got really depressed. For those of you who are not sure what Chantix is, it is a quit-smoking pill manufactured by Pfizer. I am not sure what exactly caused the sudden depression, but I have never experienced anything quiet like this before. I had to take a bunch of Excedrin as well, because I couldn’t shake the horrible headache. I’m not exactly sure what happened, or what made this particular day any different for me in terms of my usual Chantix regiment, but I definitely had some kind of strange reaction to the drug that I never had before. I ended up calling my doctor again, because if this is how I am going to react to these pills, I’d rather just start smoking again! So it leads me to question if others are having the same massive headaches and depression that I have experienced from Chantix. This cannot be safe, I think the feeling of depression from the pill is similar to feeling that one gets if they went off of a heavy anti depressant, such as Paxil or Wellbutrin for instance. I have heard that this is common, but I have never experienced this feeling before. Long story short, I ended up just spending the rest of the day laying on the sofa, unable to really do anything because I just couldn’t keep my mind on one task long enough before I would start to get really infuriated for no reason.
